Tuesday morning brought more lovely sunshine as we prepared for a quick tour of Marseille. Designated  Europe’s ‘City of Culture’ 2013 I was not overly impressed as there is still a lot of building work going on. I am told that it is a typical port! We ventured down to the harbour with its stalls of freshly caught fish. Lots of boats were being cleaned and re-painted ready for the summer.

We were able to get a good view of the cathedral in the distance. Time was short so it was a quick uphill walk back to the hotel, have lunch, collect our cases and head for the station to catch the Nimes train.

Our connection to Uzes went smoothly and by 5.30 we had arrived at our destination ready for refreshment. We were not disappointed …. a bottle of red wine awaited us!

Arrived safely in Marseille…. lots of sun 23 degrees. 🙂

It’s a shame my suitcase didn’t make the journey with me. It would have to be the one with my clothes, toiletries and our phone chargers in!

Luckily my carry-on bag has our overnight things in! Not a great start to the holiday! 🙁

All my beadwork is also in the suitcase including the piece I am working on for the Great British Bead Show in May. I have to finish it in time for Verity to take back with her.

Just hoping British Airways will come up trumps by the morning before we move on to Uzes.

Sunday 15th August, 2010: Up at 3.30am to catch the 06.25 flight from London Luton Airport to Nimes, France.

Going through security, who should be behind us but Mike Bushell from BBC Breakfast ( not the one who won Strictly) off on holiday, with his family. He is the sports reporter who is set various obscure sporting tasks which are then broadcast to the nation on Saturday mornings! Tried not to grin inanely!
We duly arrived on time and were met by our hosts for the short journey to Rodhilan (about 10 mins. from Nimes). The apartment is lovely and welcoming. Only one problem….we have arrived on a Sunday and a religious holiday and all the shops are shut – apart from La Boulangerie with so many wonderful breads and pastries to tempt us.
Spent the afternoon sleeping off the early start.
